I just stayed up until 5:30 am on my day off to catch up on Hulu.
I’ve been watching and listening to nothing but creativeLIVE and photography podcasts.
Time to catch up on Modern Family. This season is ridiculously good.
One of my NH girlfriends, I just found out, is getting married. This is a shot from 2009, in the NH woods and dying light. I miss Tessa like crazy, she is such an inspiration for me. Congrats, girl.
Some roses from the yard, a vase a friend from college made me, lemons from my sister’s tree, and the redwood bowl my grandpa made me.
I saw this gorgeous antique mirror at a shop in town yesterday, I just loved it. I have a styled shoot coming up it would be beautiful for.
As an experiment, I took a couple shots in the shop and uploaded this one later to facebook. The next morning, the mirror was sold because the buyer saw my photo on facebook. That’s the power or product photography and the internet.
As I mentioned, I did it as an experiment. Emily was with me and I thought “wouldn’t this be interesting to this sell because of my shot?”. I’ve been emailing and stopping by a couple local vendor’s and talking to them about product photography. I knew I needed a pitch that spoke louder than I do. This one was pretty instantaneous. I think I’ll try this a couple more times in other places and weigh the results from my network.
Photos can make or break a product. Take at look at etsy, and see what sells consistently. Does it have a great product photo? Now imagine that same product with a compact camera snapshot, in low light, with a little bit of blur. A little less attractive, right? It’s all in the presentation. Now to find another mirror like that for my very own!
My wonderful friend, Emily. Caught in a split second moment, I think she looks disarmingly beautiful. As for the second photo, I cannot comment on her choice of apparel. She’s a CNA, something has to brighten her day when she is literally cleaning up the stuff that hits the fan.
She, E and I went to get late night drinks from Dutch Bros after work. Mango+peach=andieloves.
Today I was backing up some files and came across a couple horse photos I took in 2008. I miss visiting my aunt Joy and taking horse photos, maybe I will do that soon.
The guy with the blue sky behind him is Roger, my baby. Below the first set is a photo of Roger and me. He’s a sweet boy, and beautiful to boot!
In the upcoming weeks, I will make an active effort I think to get a hold of the owners of the land on the interstate with all the horses and burros… I would love to photograph the herd.
Reason #3 to photograph more: pretty horses. =)
Artists, what are 3 words you would use to brand yourself?
Describe your brand in 3 words. I’m still working on mine. I am thinking ‘exuberant, blessed, bold’.

Dear lost SD cards: I don’t know what I did to offend you. I offered you a good home, plenty of use, and life was never boring for you. I have looked everywhere possible for you that makes any sense. Please come home. I miss you, and more importantly, my cameras miss you. Love sincerely: Someone has been driven mad by looking for you for two weeks.
I want to take a minute to talk about this girl right here.
Emily is one of my best girlfriends, and she’s stuck with me through thick and thin. She’s incredibly selfless, giving, and happens to be freakin’ adorable. These photos we took during our trip last September to the coast, and we had an amazing amount of fun. I could never repay her for how sweet our friendship is. Emily has a heart of service, love, and a wonderful sense of self. No matter what happens, I am honored to be counted among her friends.
Celebrate your friends today.
Here’s to you, Emily!
Sometimes life just smacks you with a ‘Seize the Day!’ moment.
My uncle was recently hospitalized for something that, if left alone for a couple more hours, could have killed him. My aunt and uncle are awesome people— I mean, they’ve been so generous in support for me, driven clients my way, and are incredibly sweet people. Back in December, when I took these photos, I dragged them out in the dying light to take this photo of them. They don’t have too many photos together, recent or otherwise. If misfortune had seen to it that we lost my uncle in the hospital recently, this would have been his most recent and probably last photo.
I don’t want to live life having only a couple photos to show for it. I want to make sure that I take photos every day so that I have something to show for all the beauty I see and experience. I want these photos to be a reminder to me to shoot friends and family more. In the past couple years, I take out my camera less and less for casual fun and more for a specific portfolio cause. The friendships that have endured for years have more photos of us in 2009 than in 2012. It’s not that I don’t think shooting casually isn’t fun anymore… it’s that I forgot that memories are the *cause* of my shooting.
So today I will vow: Love every day. Shoot every day. Take a million bad photos, and love every frame.
Something to remember for today:
Capture every day. There will never be another day like today.
With some of my favorite images. They may not show some great technical skill, but they do speak.
Whiskeytown again. I just love this place! I could spend days and days there, just sipping on something cold and listening to the sounds of rushing water.
