Here’s a quick photo update of a gorgeous baby girl’s shoot I did a couple months back. She was just 11 days old! Her 6 months will be here before her parents know it. Time DOES fly!
I did this photo (and others like it) for this little family whose new daddy I attended k-12th grade with. Matt has always been such a wonderful friend to me, how could I not resist taking his family’s first newborn’s portraits!?
Have a wonderful wednesday, everyone!

This week had been so busy! So here’s a blog I MEANT to post a week ago, but when I make some silly mistakes during editing, I realized I’d need to redo some things, so this got pushed back.
Nellie has been a long time friend of mine. She modeled catalog when she was younger and now she’s this super smart super awesome gal who works as a scientist. She’s brains and beauty. I’ve known her since primary school and even though I wish out of our circle of friends we still kept in touch as a group, I’m happy to say she and I at least still chat when we get the chance. I shot her and her fiance last year when they visited, and I’m so excited for their wedding next year in Pismo.
Nellie and her sister are some of the best pair I’ve ever met. They’re kind to each other, they have fun together, and all in all a joy to work with.
We didn’t get a whole lot of photos from that day because it was so HOT! If any of you know Nor Cal heat, you know what I mean. Combined with working in a barn with no air conditioning, we worked with what we had. In their individual shots one girl fanned the other with a collapsible softbox while the other posed. Oh yeah… we’re high tech. =)
Turns out after we got done with the shoot some of the barn doors were left unsecured and some of their escape artist cows took advantage of the opportunity. Nel said it’s ok though, Molly and her mom needed the excitement.
There will be more photos coming, but here’s just a couple for now. Here’s to three fabulous gals!
If there’s one thing I love, it’s finding gems in sessions I had previously overlooked. Whether it’s because I’ve spent too much time reviewing images or because I simply can’t choose my favorites, I have to take a step back and draw the line in the sand as to when I officially finish proofs. When I revisit a session that’s already been wrapped up, sometimes I do a Photographer’s Edit.
Photographer’s Edits may be a couple images or just one. Here’s one fresh off a BW conversion.
Mariah was so much fun to work with, she was calm and a believer in my method. Eryka styled her makeup and hair, and believe it or not, we shot this is Eryka’s kitchen!
The color version:
Today it’s a gorgeously overcast day, I am looking forward to having a bit of rain.
Happy Monday, y’all!
Lisa High Key on Flickr.
Lisa did a quick shoot with me so I could get out of the house and work out some photo energy.
I get kind of antsy/cagey when I go a couple days or more without shooting. More and more I have to work that creative energy out. Here’s one from our shoot.
I shot in RAW and was looking for high key, so I shot this properly exposed and then edited as a summer vintage high key.
Nikki, in a Sue Bryce inspired shoot.
